FAQs

  • What is "The Winx Chronicles"?
The Winx Chronicles is a series of adult high fantasy / science fiction books re-imagining the Italian cartoon "Winx Club". It is not a direct adaptation, a novelization or continuation of the show in anyway. It is an adaptation through a completely different lens. The core ethos and messaging of the original show has been preserved as well as key plot points, locations and characters.
  • Is it official?
No. The Winx Chronicles is a 100% fan-made re-telling and is not affiliated with Iginio Straffi, Rainbow or Viacom in any way.
  • Is The Winx Chronicles based on the original show or Fate: The Winx Saga?
The Winx Chronicles is based on the original show "Winx Club" not "Fate: The Winx Saga". The Winx Chronicles is attempting to do the same thing Fate did in many ways - adapt the children's cartoon to a compelling adult story, but the project is not affiliated with, based on, or continues "Fate: The Winx Saga". The first book is named 'Fate' for three reasons, first as an homage to the series, second as it's the word that translates to "fairy" in Italian and finally as a core theme of the novels.
  • How will it be available?
The Winx Chronicles will be available through both a free e-book, downloadable via this website, as well as an audio book narrated by the author. The audiobook will be available on YouTube.
  • What could "The Winx Chronicles" be compared to?
The Winx Chronicles is not like the original show "Winx Club" in many ways. Whilst the core ethos of the show has been preserved, the author has taken inspiration from other places. To name a few: - Avatar: The Last Airbender (Nickelodeon) - His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman - Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien - The Cosmere by Brandon Sanderson - Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas - The Hunger Games by Susanne Collins
  • Why are there changes compared to the original?
The Winx Chronicles is not a direct novelization of the original show, nor is it a continuation. The Winx Chronicles takes place in its own world with rules, characters, locations and plot exclusive to itself. The original show "Winx Club" was created for a young audience, this re-imagining has been created for all of us who grew up. Things have been changes within the world to make the plot feel better crafted, more adult and higher stakes.
  • What about (Insert character name, location, transformation)?
The Winx Chronicles is an adaptation of the first three seasons of the show and first movie only. Anything that took place after that may not be included. There are only two transformations in the world of the Winx Chronicles. Charmix & Enchantix.
  • Who is the author?
The author's name is Joshua. Half Italian Half English, Josh grew up with the Winx Club original show since and has been a life-long fan since 2004. He is a fan of all of the dubs, especially the 4kids dub, and will pay homage to all of them in the books whilst trying to stick close to many of the original decisions made for the Italian version. He will publish under the pen name "J. L. Martone"
